In order to further implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi's important speech at the National Ecological and Environmental Protection Conference, and focus on addressing environmental issues of high concern to the people, research and remediation of polluted water bodies in China's lakes, rivers, and reservoirs will be conducted.
China is a country with many rivers and rich aquatic resources. There are about 100000 rivers in the seven major river systems, mainly outflow rivers. These rivers are not only famous big rivers in China, but also big rivers in the world. There are more than 50000 rivers with a drainage area of more than 100 square kilometers, 1580 rivers with a drainage area of more than 1000 square kilometers, and there are countless tributaries and tens of thousands of artificial lakes (reservoirs) in the drainage area.
With the rapid development of China's social economy and urbanization process, the problem of lake water pollution has become increasingly prominent. The research on the restoration of lake protection and pollution control projects has become the focus of China's environmental protection. Increasing the control of pollution sources has to some extent curbed the trend of pollution and ecological environment deterioration. According to the country's economic development and future planning, the situation of lake pollution and degradation is not optimistic. The algal bloom outbreak in some large and medium-sized lakes has reached a very serious level. Therefore, the establishment of the center is of great significance to the future improvement and control of lake and river pollution.
